[Carpetx-developers] Weekly call at 4pm Thursday Eastern time
Roland Haas
rhaas at illinois.edu
Thu Dec 19 15:47:00 CST 2024
present: Erik, Liwei, Jay, Roland, Yosef, Zach
Roland mentioned items that he would like to make into standing items
* Z4c inclusion into ET (Erik and Roland are champions, Steve and Peter
are reviewers), may ask the call for input, parfiles etc.
* subcycling in time
* M1 and MC neutrino transport
* Erik would like to also explore generalized harmonic formulations
** Liwei has a code generator Generato
https://github.com/lwJi/Generato which was used with CarpetX for
Z4cow code
** used to generate GH for Nmesh
https://github.com/lwJi/Generato/tree/main/test/Nmesh
* Erik argues to have simpler code generators that are more easy to
update and avoid becoming stale too quickly
** Zach showcased NRPy2 which can (Sam Cupp's work) generate code for
CarpetX
Subcycling
==========
* Liwei continues to compute constraints from saved 3D data
** sees inversion of size of constraint order wrt. resolution
** merger happens at about time of inversion (needs checking)
** uses alp < 0.6 to remove points from norm to remove interior of BH
* Zach mentions volumeintegrals_vacuum thorn
AsterX
======
* work on tabulated EOS is ongoing, right now con2prim on GPUs seems to
fails
* evolution equations for Y_e have been added to AsterX, so far this
means just advection
meeting time
============
* we will need to reschedule the Thu call due to teaching conflicts
* Roland will send out a poll
We will not have meetings during the week of Dec 23rd or Dec 30th and
start again the week of Jan 6th (on either Monday Jan 6th or Thu Jan
9th or TBD).
