 Indeed, it is poison. I've now realized that the issue with periodic
 boundaries is not the same as the one that arises on actual physical
 boundaries, reported above. I'm now concentrating on the issue with
 periodic boundaries: the poison is on all the boundary points of
 refinement levels with rl>0. I'm looking into thorn Periodic.
