 It would be better, but I don't know how.

 Cactus already has configuration variables for this and tries to guess the
 values while building. This can be wrong, since it builds on the head
 node, which often has a different cache configuration. In addition, I've
 begun to collect this information (which is difficult to find, I usually
 have to inquire with the help desk staff) in the MDB.
