Comment:

 This was an intentional change, not an error.  Erik is correct as to the
 motivation.  Luca, if you want to request that the default be changed,
 please open an enhancement ticket saying why you think it is better to
 have a common source and build directory for the two machines rather than
 having them separated (it's not 100% clear to me which is better, but I
 currently lean in the direction of keeping them separate).
