 number; I haven't tested them)
 GSL from 1.14 to 1.15
 HDF5 from 1.8.6 to 1.8.7
 PETSc from 3.1-p7 to 3.1-p8   (later versions change the API)
 curl form 7.21.1 to 7.21.6   (later versions don't work with flickcurl)
 flickcurl: (later versions of flickcurl don't build)
 git from 1.7.3.1 to 1.7.5.1
