 Some mpi implementations will choke on asking for more processes than
 known from the hostlist which they get from the batch system. You are
 right about 2 processes on a 1-processor system, but it is easy to come up
 with more problematic scenarios.

 What I think it more important it to fix why we need to have these
 specific processor numbers in the first place. Most of the time it is
 probably the ASCII output. Assuming we get finally someone working on hdf5
 testsuites this could be history.
