 Yes, ActiveThorns would be a reserved word in the language.  The only
 objective reason for the $ that I can see in the above comments is that it
 allows other reserved words (e.g. sqrt) to be used as constant names (we
 shouldn't call them variables, they cannot be changed). String
 concatenation can apparently be handled as var1 + "string" + var2 so we
 don't need "${var1}string${var2}".  Is there another reason for the $s,
 and do we really want to support users using reserved words as constant
 names?
