 I'm following the tutorial at <https://www.atlassian.com/git/tutorials
 /migrating-convert>. (I'm ignoring offensive comments such as "'git svn'
 is a great tool that makes converting from svn to git simple.") The
 respective script creates git branches and tags for all svn branches and
 tags, but then deletes them again right away. The script is written in
 Java and distributed as binary.

 Do you have pointers for handling this?

 I have an author list, if that helps.
