 The branches of the merged thorns are preserved by the script, inside a
 thorn-specific namespace. For example, there would be a ADMMass/ET_2014_11
 branch, and similarly for all other branches and tags.

 Going beyond this to implement your suggestion is a little more tricky.
 The problem is that these thorns didn't exist inside those arrangements at
 the time that the previous branches were created. We could artificially
 merge the branches to make it appear as if they had been in that
 arrangement all along, but I don't know whether that is a good idea or
 not. This step could also be deferred to some point in the future, after
 the initial merge has been completed.
