 This is a bit tricky: the utilities (even though they live in thorns' src
 directories) are not considered part of any thorn so they don't get
 include paths set based on their "parent" thorn's REQUIRE lines. That is
 why they themselves have to pull in the required INC_DIRS and LIB_DIRS
 variables.
