 This does not look to have quite the same characteristics as
 ticket:2175#comment:1 which was fixed in #2182 but given that both are
 concerned with NaN/poisson values appearing when running in many MPI ranks
 this may be worthwile to check again if there is a reproducer for the
 issue.
