<p>MPI no longer uses a bash based detection script. The current one (<code>detect.pl</code>) does look at <code>VERBOSE</code> but ignores the setting. The code was present in the very first commit introducing the perl code <a data-is-external-link="true" href="https://github.com/EinsteinToolkit/ExternalLibraries-MPI/commit/ee23cc93ec728624bb5396fa5f2626f3ce95b310" rel="nofollow">ee23cc93ec728624bb5396fa5f2626f3ce95b310</a> .
