<p>Pull request <a data-is-external-link="true" href="https://github.com/EinsteinToolkit/ExternalLibraries-HDF5/pull/3" rel="nofollow">https://github.com/EinsteinToolkit/ExternalLibraries-HDF5/pull/3</a> requests at least version 1.8 from pkg-config. No attempt is made to guess the version of libhdf5 if pkg-config is not used. Could be done but tends to be tricky since one must parse <code>H5public.h</code> whose name and existence may not be “official” since only <code>hdf5.h</code> is used by user code.</p>
