I updated/enhanced this for Debian Squeeze (stable) and Linux Mint 13
(based on Ubuntu). Essentially a record of bash commands typed into a
freshly installed virtual machine. Missing are instructions for Fedora
(or at least tested instructions for fedora and for MacOS X).
