Fine with me. I don't have a particular preference for the language used
(as long as it is somewhat well known and reasonably suitable). Shell
scripts seemed natural since lots of command calls and output parsing
seems involved.

That seems quite likely given the list of issues one has to be aware of.
I am rather naive in this respect. I'll have a look at simfactory so
that at least I can provide constructive criticism :-).
