<div style="margin-top: 0px; margin-bottom: 0px;" class="">I used parameter file in ~/<span class="">Cactus/par. It seems this parameter is only used for the first run instead of restarting. And yes, I am using simfactory. I follow your steps to <span class="">edit
the parameter file in <simulation>/SIMFACTORY/par and </span> successfully recover my simulation.</span></div>

<div>The problem is that simfactory does not use the original parameter file automatically when resubmitting the simulation. You can make it do so by adding the </div>

<div>parameter to the "sim submit" command line. It does the same with optionlists and thornlists. This is so that the simulation is self-contained, and no longer depends on external files once it has been created unless the user explicitly asks for something
