I found the of the different browsers I tried (ok, only Firefox, Chrome and Chromium) the Chrome based ones worked better than Firefox, though with 300 MB even that may not work.

Stackoverflow https://stackoverflow.com/questions/39886995/how-to-access-bitbucket-using-app-password suggests one must use ones Bitbucket user name, not the email address when using an app password. Maybe that is it?
