Correction: simfactory does know the name of the files, or at least makes assumptions about them once a job has finished. In lib/simrestart.py:

errfile = simlib.BuildPath(self.RestartDir, "%s.err" % self.SimulationName)
outfile = simlib.BuildPath(self.RestartDir, "%s.out" % self.SimulationName)

if a job is not in “R” state (and whatever stdout, stderr, stdout-follow and exechost boil down to otherwise).
