That sounds a bit like a compiler bug to me. It may be possible to write a short reproducer by nesting a omp simd in an omp parallel and testing what the compiler does to variables declared private in the omp parallel. We may have similar omp simd constructs in other code (though likely not so much and likely not in Fortran).
