@Roland Haas it is necessary to mix things up. You can't install jupyter on Ubuntu without using pip, AFAIK. Having said that, matplotlib suddenly no longer works with pip install (unless you specify an older version) because the newest version is python3 only.
@Ian Hinder I can certainly add nano and emacs.
I'll be pushing a change to the dockerfile shortly.
