 As an example of the speedup gained by shallow clones, a full clone of
 Carpet uses 110MB whereas a shallow clone only uses 73MB. I don't think
 this is insignificant, but I see your point about the arbitrary
 distinction between users and developers. I'll implement the shallow/no-
 shallow command-line option, and we can discuss what should be the default
 on the mailing list.
