Comment (by rhaas):

 there are the test parfile in
 arrangements/CactusTest/TestPar/test/expressions.par which exercises an
 abundance of features for the expression parser and the array syntax. The
 expression syntax is described in the users guide. I am not away of
 documentation on the array syntax.
