 Ok - installed git, cloned the repo and added it to be pulled from for
 calls to the update URL, which is triggered by commits to 'www'. I also
 added this URL to push-hooks for the manifest repo on bitbucket, and a
 test worked. Closing this ticket - please re-open if this turns out not to
 work after all somehow.
