 As far as I am concerned, changes to machine files are among the first
 candidates that should get a backport. Machines/distributions are prone to
 change, and I don't see why we shouldn't react to this. Roland: please
 backport what you see as necessary and safe/tested.

 Concerning a new release tag: I would wait with that a little longer. The
 tags aren't really supposed to be used by anyone for a checkout anyway,
 and waiting a little to accumulate more changes shouldn't hurt.
