 I agree it is fine-tuned.  I like your last suggestion the best.  That
 will make the test stricter than it currently is for double precision
 (2.2e-13) and allows single precision to work (1.2e-4).  1e-13 seems a
 little small, but then we are getting to fine-tuning again...
