[Users] restart simulation with checkpoints

Dear Ian,
Actually I have already use the command like :
simfactory/bin/sim submit simulation --parfile par/simulation.par
The restarting simulation seems still not using ~/Cactus/par/simulation.par . Instead it uses <simulation>/SIMFACTORY/par/simulation.par in the output directory.
So I think I would simply modify <simulation>/SIMFACTORY/par/simulation.par
Thank you very much.
Best regards,
Chia-Hui

Dear Ian,
I used parameter file in ~/Cactus/par. It seems this parameter is only used for the first run instead of restarting. And yes, I am using simfactory. I follow your steps to edit the parameter file in <simulation>/SIMFACTORY/par and successfully recover my simulation.

Hi,

The problem is that simfactory does not use the original parameter file automatically when resubmitting the simulation. You can make it do so by adding the

--parfile par/XXX.par

parameter to the "sim submit" command line. It does the same with optionlists and thornlists. This is so that the simulation is self-contained, and no longer depends on external files once it has been created unless the user explicitly asks for something to be updated.
