#2969: ExternalLibraries-PETSc: Link hwloc into the configure-time MPI check for from-source MPI Reporter: Max Morris Status: open Milestone: Version: Type: bug Priority: major Component: Comment (by Max Morris): During the build of PETSc, its configure.py builds and links a tiny MPI program. That particular build is what lacks the hwloc library paths, and therefore what causes the overall build to fail. None of the other thorns do this; they only get linked against MPI at the end of the overall Cactus build, by which time hwloc is present on the link line. I think you are essentially right that it would be better to add the HWLOC_LIBS and HWLOC_LIB_DIRS in the MPI thorn, but presently this is the only ExternalThorn affected by this issue. Fixing it in the MPI thorn would catch any future dependencies that happen to do the same thing. Let me know if you would like me to make another ticket with such a fix.
