The simfactory website at
http://simfactory.org/simfactory/download/
contains incorrect download instructions for simfactory2 since it still
refers to the svn repository instead of the bitbucket one.

#1990: Symmetry thorn tests couple too many other thorns

The test ReflectionSymmetry/KerrSchild-rotating-180-EE.par depends on
initial data from KerrSchild and NoExcision (which includes solving an
elliptic equation). This means that problems in either of those are
caught by the symmetry thorn test. The symmetry thorn test should rely on
as few other thorns as possible, and those should be as simple as
possible. We need variables with nontrivial parities etc, but we could
implement those in ReflectionSymmetry itself, or use McLachlan with simple
initial data. I propose that these tests are decoupled from the
complicated thorns.

#1980: NaNChecker: self-generate NaNs or test

Reporter: rhaas | Owner:

Component: EinsteinToolkit thorn | Version: development version

https://bitbucket.org/cactuscode/cactusutils/pull-requests/10/rhaas-make-
nans/diff
implements a short helper routine to fill a grid function with NaNs for
tests.
It *also* changes the schedule so that schedule.ccl does no longer depend
on STEERABLE=always parameters (either that or making the parameters
STEERABLE=recover is required to ensure correct behaviour).
Minor since it does not affect actual simulations (only the test) for the
most part, should go into the release though.

#1884: provide support for multi-model runs in thorn MPI
-----------------------------------+----------------------------------------
Reporter: rhaas | Owner:
Type: enhancement | Status: new
Priority: minor | Milestone:
Component: EinsteinToolkit thorn | Version: development version
Keywords: MPI |
-----------------------------------+----------------------------------------
The attached patch adds a very thin layer of code to ExternalLibraries/MPI
to provide access to two communicators {{{MPI_Comm_World}}} and
{{{MPI_Comm_Universe}}} which can be used for multi-model runs (or runs
started via {{{MPI_Comm_Spawn}}}).
The code does not itself split a communicator, it only provides routines
to get and set the communicators.
It supports C and F90 calls (and C++ calls through external C and call
from F77 files since Cactus compiles those with at a F90 compiler).
Documentation is provided in the tex file and in the grdoc comments.

#1982: Formaline: speed up git repo updates

This pull request contains two patches that speed up Formaline's git repo
update:
1. it uses hard-links to build a mock directory hierarchy if possible so
that it can use a single call to git-add to update the repo
1. it only passes those thorns that have changed to update-git-repo.pl so
that git has fewer files to inspect for changes

#1989: CarpetInterp2 array access out of bounds in llamawavetoy_7patch test on 2

Reporter: hinder | Owner:

The test parameter file
arrangements/Llama/LlamaWaveToy/test/llamawavetoy_7patch.par fails with an
assertion when run on 2 processes, but runs without error on 1 process.
Note that this is not necessarily a regression, as the test is new. The
error is
WARNING[L1,P0] (CarpetInterp2): Array access out of bounds
*this=fasterp_src_loc_t{
...
Could not determine valid interpolation stencil for point 8359 on map
0, refinement level 0, component 0
The equivalent test with the 6-patch system works on both 1 and 2
processes. The full output, including bbox output, is attached. To
reproduce, run
sim create-run llamawavetoy_7patch --parfile
arrangements/Llama/LlamaWaveToy/test/llamawavetoy_7patch.par --procs 2

#1988: Observations when using GRHydro_Avec

Dear Sir or Madam,
I am currently working on problems including the evolution of the vector
potential. With this I encountered some problems in setting up my
simulations. Please allow me to state some of my observations:
- The atmosphere reset routines are not scheduled all in their
GRhydro_Avec version (e.g. the initial reset in CCTK_Initial)
- Within the atmosphere reset routines, it is not made use of the
GRHydro_Avec routines of variable conversion. (prim2conAM not used but the
magnetic field ones)
- The subroutine GRHydro_SqrtSpatialDeterminant is not always scheduled
before the GRHydro_BvecfromAvec. Therefore NaNs are produced in
GRHydro_BvecfromAvec.
I do have further problems in GRHydro_CalcUpdate at the moment, however, I
do not know yet where they lie. Please contact me, if there is interest in
reviewing the GRHydro_Avec implementations. As I will use this option
extensively, I will definetely be working further on this.
My best
Jens Mahlmann

Pull request is at https://bitbucket.org/simfactory/simfactory2/pull-
requests/14/simenv-do-not-try-and-get-a-simfactory-or/diff
Using svn in simfactory won't work since neither one is in svn anymore and
neither is the .svn directory sync'ed to remote machines.
This patch removes the version NA@ replacement from simfactory.
