Yes; I would rather not break backward-compatibility with existing
thorns if it's not necessary, just for the sake of removing a couple of lines of code. If, on the other hand, retaining the old behaviour makes the code much more complicated or is a lot of work, then we should consider it.
Yes, we could leave it as a warning. I was just pointing out that it doesn't break thorns in the ET.
