#2875: handle system directories when looking for (extra) hdf5 libraries
Reporter: Roland Haas
Status: resolved
Milestone: ET_2025_05
Version:
Type: bug
Priority: major
Component: EinsteinToolkit thorn
Comment (by Roland Haas):
The `--keep-system-libs` option is only known starting pkg-confg version 0.7 \(from 2012\) and at least Ubuntu 20.04 uses an older version \(0.29\). To avoid this issue I have updated the commit to use the environment variable `PKG_CONFIG_ALLOW_SYSTEM_CFLAGS=1` which has the same effect on new enough `pkg-config` and is silently ignored by older ones.

#2848: updates to FLRWSolver
Reporter: Roland Haas
Status: open
Milestone: ET_2025_05
Version:
Type: enhancement
Priority: major
Component: EinsteinToolkit thorn
Comment (by Zach Etienne):
The major update to FLRWSolver was reviewed, merged, and then included in the ET\_2025\_05 release.
@{557058:59e031ba-9bb5-4298-a472-7b99d0ae6f22} indicated that there may be one known unresolved issue, namely that the Fortran-based random-number generator originally used does not have a consistent implementation across architectures. Unless there is another ticket for this, I will leave this ticket open until this issue is confirmed to be resolved.

#2282: gallery examples use low-order integration n Multipole
Reporter: Roland Haas
Status: open
Milestone:
Version:
Type: enhancement
Priority: minor
Component: EinsteinToolkit website
Comment (by Zach Etienne):
The midpoint rule yields errors that scale with the square of the grid spacing; that is, for sufficiently smooth functions, the error should decrease proportionally to 1/n^2, where n is the number of intervals. See, e.g., [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Riemann\_sum](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/R… .
There are higher order midpoint rules, but they require n to be divisible by e.g., 4.
