Re: [Users] Missing thorns in ET_2013_05 branch
by Frank Löffler 12 May '13

Hi Could we, for the development version, enable them for all machines and see what breaks? Maybe we can fix them such that we can unconditionally include them. Old EOS thorns in ET_2013_05 branch
by Erik Schnetter 11 May '13

11 May '13

Are the thorns EinsteinBase/EOSG_Base EinsteinEOS/EOSG_Hybrid EinsteinEOS/EOSG_IdealFluid EinsteinEOS/EOSG_Polytrope part of the release? If so, we need to describe why they are commented out. If not, they should be removed from the thorn list. -erik -- Erik Schnetter <schnetter(a)cct.lsu.edu> http://www.perimeterinstitute.ca/personal/eschnetter/

-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Present: Ian, Eloisa, Seth, Josh, Yosef, Erik, Frank, Peter, Roland, Steve, Matt Kinsey ET release: * most tests pass on all machines, exceptions are GRHydro's weno and slow_sector tests. Roland will look into them (since he put them into the repo). Suspicions are that they were generated using gcc but are now tested using intel (thing --fast-math) * Peter reports some test failures with new intel compilers as well (on his laptop) * currently have 34 open tickets flagged for the release. Please have a look. 6 of them are in review, some are even reviewed ok. * Ian now automatically builds documentation for ET, will not use it on ET page yet since it is build from trunk and the page should be the release code. Ian will also build the stable documentation and we can link to that one. * Frank to ask Bruno to give the documentation a quick check Yours, Roland -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.4.12 (GNU/Linux) Comment: Using GnuPG with Mozilla - http://enigmail.mozdev.org/ iEYEARECAAYFAlF+l+cACgkQTiFSTN7SboXvLQCgzQIShmcRP6XstLMRuo4sP7Yd HX4AnjbevIB8nzB8tyivyH/suZuKN5O0 =1Ss0 -----END PGP SIGNATURE-----

New branches to be created soon
by Frank Loeffler 10 May '13

10 May '13

Hi, As discussed on the Monday calls, we will create new release branches tomorrow. This most likely includes not only the new ET_2013_05 branch, but also a new Cactus release (the last was one year ago). This does *not* mean a new release just yet. The code on these branches will receive further testing, and the release is scheduled for in about two weeks. This means two things for the time after this happened: - trunk will be open again, like usual - (some) fixes should be committed to all (two, or three) branches: trunk, the ET and the Cactus release branch. We know this is inconvenient, but this is why we had the development branch closed for major additions for some time. If you have something in your pipeline and would like to avoid a double/triple commit, do so before tomorrow. Frank Loeffler

http only source for GetComponents
by Roland Haas 07 May '13

-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Hello all, does anybody know if it is possible to use GetComponents to check out (really only download) a thorn from a "dump" transport channel such as http right now? Eg. if there is a thorn that needs to be accessible in a temporary location and right now it is not in a svn repository (or similar). I tried the "http" transport but that really seems to work only for individual files (one can make it kind-of work with careful choices of wget parameters inside of GetComponents but plain vanilla GetComponents/trunk seems to not support it). "ftp" might work, though I am hard pressed to find an ftp server that one could press into service :-) Any thoughts anyone? Yours, Roland - -- My email is as private as my paper mail. I therefore support encrypting and signing email messages. Hi, Is anyone using the possibility of storing configuration options in ~/.cactus/config anymore? Could this be removed in some future release? Frank Löffler
