No word from Deborah yet. * CapyrX will be deferred * CanudaX - minor issue from Lucas has yet to be addressed. Should be soon * BHaHAHA - Peter still needs to finish review. * Black hole neutron star merge is done * Boost is done - merged in master; should confirm that fuka builds properly Status of testing on Clusters -------------------------------------- Not done, serious testing will begin after the freeze Finish with release ETK Workshop and School ===================== * Past registration dates * If you are a tutorial presenter and plan on using the tutorial server, plan that with Steve now to test things out Gallery Runners ============ * Adjust table to reflect status Open Tickets ========== https://bitbucket.org/einsteintoolkit/tickets/issues/2940/ cce_export-allow-for-changing-array_size https://bitbucket.org/einsteintoolkit/tickets/issues/2941/ cce_export-uses-setiosflags-unqualified * Deborah is verifying * 2941 is an actual bug, fails using clang. * 2940 is also a bug, but an unlikely to encounter one. * Deborah is running tests before merging. https://bitbucket.org/einsteintoolkit/tickets/issues/2936/ carpetx-tsv-output-does-not-append-files * tsv output does not append files * There is some functionality missing from carpetX, that is not strictly necessary. Trying to get those fixed. Also lacks a test * Probably wont make it to release https://bitbucket.org/einsteintoolkit/tickets/issues/2912/ inconsistent-computation-of-the-volume * Roland will make a pull request * Fallback is not consistent. * Observable change in Thronburg04 should be announced as it is a longstanding bug * We should add test cases for these https://bitbucket.org/einsteintoolkit/tickets/issues/2939/ ahfinderdirect-range-options-for * Should be approved. * Should confirm the regex, and correct the default https://bitbucket.org/einsteintoolkit/tickets/issues/2927/ gcc-version-dependent-error-range-error * Compiler bug? * Can’t be fixed before release * There is a workaround

Present: Roland, Steve, Peter, Deborah, Max, Beyhan, Lucas, Nikolai, Zach Chair: Deborah Minutes: Roland ET release ========== * freeze postponed by a week * Cottonmouth: some updates, will need to recreated code once more CapyrX ------ * issues on outer boundary suggest * desire to produce a waveform * Steve raised the question whether this means CapyrX should be included or no * Zach argues that the alternative, waiting a year, is quite bad * Roland mentioned the idea of point release that would include only those changes * this will need spelling out what is actually meant by a "point release" * in the call it was decided to postpone inclusion of CapyrX in 2026_05, but make an effort to include all infrastructure changes to CarpetX. CanudaX ------- * Lucas handed review report to Cheng-Hsin * change requests are dead-code removal, missing license, and similar but no actual code changes ET_BHaHAHAH ----------- * Peter ran some tests, requires changes for utilities * Zach added a single spinning black hole test case * bugfix found by Thiago Assumpção, Zach is verifying and added fix * will need to add `module load python` to clusters * Zach will remove the offending code bit BHNS Gallery example -------------------- * all done Boost ----- * included, no known issues yet TwoPuncturesX ------------- * Steve noticed that TwoPuncturesX has non-trivial modifications compared to TwoPunctures * multiple issues exist with these multiple (3-4) copies of TwoPunctures, making keeping them all in sync difficult * Steve came up with a way of creating a single source 'library' version that could support all of these, at least TwoPunctures(X) though ET summer school ================ * registration for in person attendance closes tomorrow, it is suggested to send out a reminder TOVola ====== * Zach has taken over maintainership * code is now in EinsteinInitialData repository * is fixing bugs, which may address the observed test failures Open Tickets ============ * https://bitbucket.org/einsteintoolkit/tickets/issues/2915 include-capyrx-a-gpu-accelerated resolved by postponing CapyrX * https://bitbucket.org/einsteintoolkit/tickets/issues/2929 grhaylet-illinoisgrmhd Max will take a look and close ticket if fixed * https://bitbucket.org/einsteintoolkit/tickets/issues/2932 kuibit-detecting-0d-and-1d-files-generated Gabriele will create a new kuibit version for this and norms file changes * https://bitbucket.org/einsteintoolkit/tickets/issues/2938 use-swmr-mode-for-hdf5-output-in need to check if changes to readers are required * https://bitbucket.org/einsteintoolkit/tickets/issues/2928 new-simfactory-option will not make it to the release, proposes option to simfactory to request a number of GPUs. Roland mentioned a similar issue with SLURM "features". * https://bitbucket.org/einsteintoolkit/tickets/issues/2898 carpetx-split-interpolator-calls-into required for release * https://bitbucket.org/einsteintoolkit/tickets/issues/2912 inconsistent-computation-of-the-volume Roland / Lucas will take a look * https://bitbucket.org/einsteintoolkit/tickets/issues/2927 gcc-version-dependent-error-range-error will postpone until next week Notices ======= We learned that Keith Dow, who has been a regular participant in these calls and previous Einstein Toolkit release team member, unexpectedly passed away https://www.tributearchive.com/obituaries/48303590/keith-dow Yours, Roland -- My email is as private as my paper mail. Meeting Minutes for 2026-04-09
by Lucas Timotheo Sanches 30 Apr '26

30 Apr '26

Attendees: Peter Diener, Lucas (minutes), Zachariah Etienne, Steven R. Brandt, Roland(chair) Beyhan, Cheng-Hsin Cheng, Nikolai Waillin, Maxwell Rizzo, Jordan Nicoules # Pre-agenda topics Zach will be the maintainer of TOVOLA going forward. It is being moved to EinseinInitial data. There's a link to the current existing repo # Upcoming ET release - Steve says feature freeze will be postponed at least until next week. There's a couple tickets he wants resolved and he considers blockers: 2931, 1775, 2898, 2930 - He wants to have a vote by next week, asking if reviewers have any objections against inclusion or not. - BHaHAHA, Peter says review is happening. Tests are not there, but Zach says he will create them. Peter asks about setting SphericalSurfaces. Zach says that not yet, but it will be in the future. Not a blocker. - Boost, Roland says he needs to make a change and then will be able to have review. - AI review to TwoPuncturesX. Zach's main reservation is that we have a "new" thorn which is mostly a duplicate of the original. We had a discussion if it is possible to use symlinks or use a require/inherits statements to reuse the guts of TwoPunctures inside TwoPuncturesX. Moving TwoPuncturesX to the initial data repo to create links would help. Another idea is to extract the guts into a library that exports headers, and use that. Zach will create a ticket discussing this. - Johnny Tsao reports seeing a difference in the Poisson equation gallery example if he runs with multiple processes, but not with 1. - Sunrise is still posing challenges to our test suite. There may be an issue with python post-processing tools in this (and other clusters) which will need to be solved. Roland suggests, for these cases, to try and import python modules using simfactory files. # Tickets - 2932: Jordan requests review from the maintainers, and reports the PR and change to be ready for review. Maxwell will review.
