Re: [Users] Einstein Toolkit Meeting Reminder
by Frank Loeffler 30 Mar '15

Hi, Today we talked about the release. The current plan is: - last week of April: freeze except release bug fixes - week of May 6th: complete freeze - week of May 13th: release Not included will be the rewrite branch (unless someone puts all the necessary work in it this week). This makes the source change in GRHydro the biggest change since the last release. Post-release plans are: - merge the rewrite branch, testers: Peter, Erik - remove duplicate Fortran routines from GRHydro - cleanup Important tickets: - hwloc: Steve looks into moving hwloc configuration to library-config stage, so that information about dependent libraries (numa) can get to Cactus earlier. - stampede: "our" compiler is about to be removed; Ian will look into a replacement. This will most likely be a little older version, until version 15 will be installed and is tested to be good. Despite what was said in the call, the next call will _not_ be on the Easter Monday, but one week later: April 13th. Frank

Hi Please consider joining the weekly Einstein Toolkit phone call at 10 am US central time on Mondays. As usual, you can find instructions how to join on the following web site: http://einsteintoolkit.org/community/support/ By next Monday almost all regions will have changed to Summer time (if they do at all; like most of Europe - don't forget to change your clocks). This means that the ET meeting will be at the 'regular' time again. In short: the number is (+1) 225-578-4942 and the conference id is 118682#. Einstein Toolkit Workshop (Stockholm, August 11-14 2015)
by Oleg Korobkin 23 Mar '15

23 Mar '15

Dear colleagues, we are pleased to announce that an Einstein Toolkit workshop will take place this summer in Stockholm, immediately preceding the MICRA conference. The workshop aims to be an opportunity for current users and developers to report on recent progress in the Toolkit (including, but not limited to, new components), to express interests in future development, and to draw up a plan (collaborative as well as financial) to make sure this development takes place. The preliminary program includes the following topics: * August 11 (afternoon): Introduction to the Einstein Toolkit (including tutorial for new users) * August 12: Current developments in the Einstein Toolkit and related areas * August 13: Future developments in the The Einstein Toolkit * August 14 (morning): EU funding opportunities for building an European ET network Notice that this meeting will involve a few talks and status reports but will focus primarily on open discussions and planning. The workshop will take place at Nordita between August 11th and 14th, and registration is currently open at: http://agenda.albanova.se/conferenceDisplay.py?confId=4936 Block reservations at local hotels are also available; to secure the discounted rate, each participant may select the corresponding option on the registration form to receive a discount code for room reservation. We hope to see many of you in Stockholm this summer! - Oleg Korobkin, on behalf of workshop organizers

Free Intel Tools for Open Source Contributors
by Erik Schnetter 18 Mar '15

Intel seems to be providing their compiler for free if you are an open source contributor. If you are a developer of the Einstein Toolkit, you should qualify. See <https://software.intel.com/en-us/qualify-for-free-software/opensourcecontri…>. See also <https://software.intel.com/en-us/qualify-for-free-software/student> for their "usual" offer to obtain the compiler for free if you are a student (... and if you are not paid to develop software). -erik -- Erik Schnetter <schnetter(a)cct.lsu.edu> http://www.perimeterinstitute.ca/personal/eschnetter/ My email is as private as my paper mail. PUGH issues with upgrade to Cactus 4.2.3

Hello, Ever since I upgraded to Cactus 4.2.3, my code seems to have issues with MPI and PUGH. Hi, Present were: Matt Peter Frank Steven Jonah Josh Yosef Ian No new results from trying 'docker' were reported. There was some discussion about how to get grid array interpolation working in Carpet, in connection with using Carpet for CCE, in unigrid-mode. CarpetInterp apparently does not provide the correct interpolation, and CarpetInterp2 does explicitly not support it. Frank

Failed compilation of GRHydro cpp files on Fermi BlueGene/Q
by Francesco Maione 12 Mar '15

12 Mar '15

Good morning, i am trying to compile the developer version of the Einstein Toolkit on the Fermi machine (a Blue Gene/Q machine of Cineca, Italy). The compilation hangs when trying to compile GRHydro_WENOReconstruct.cc and after a while is aborted with almost no error informations: #################################################################################### COMPILING arrangements/EinsteinEvolve/GRHydro/src/GRHydro_WENOReconstruct.cc "/gpfs/work/INF14_teongrav/francesco.maione/ET/dev/Cactus/src/include/CommOverloadables.h", line 87.1: 1540-0081 (W) The attribute "noreturn" is not a valid type attribute. The attribute is ignored. "/gpfs/work/INF14_teongrav/francesco.maione/ET/dev/Cactus/src/include/CommOverloadables.h", line 88.1: 1540-0081 (W) The attribute "noreturn" is not a valid type attribute. I am using the IBM compiler for Blue Gene/Q bgxlC_r version 12.1. In the configuration file under simfactory/mdb/optionlist i have set the following flags for cxx programs: CXXFLAGS = -g -qarch=qp -qtune=qp -qrtti -qsuppress=1500-036:1506-1108 -qnokeyword=restrict -qalias=norestrict CXX_OPTIMISE_FLAGS = -O2 -qmaxmem=-1 -qhot -qlibmpi (the error is present also with -O0) CXX_OPENMP_FLAGS = -qsmp=omp:noauto Have any of you encountered a similar error, or knows how to fix it?
