Testing BlueJeans as telecon provider
by Erik Schnetter 25 Jan '18

25 Jan '18

As Google Hangouts imposes a limit of at most 15 participants, and as we surpassed that limit this week forcing us to ask some people to leave, I am investigating other telecon providers. We use BlueJeans at Perimeter, and I have set up a test call for tomorrow when: Thursday, January 25, 10:00 EST where: https://bluejeans.com/510865816 If you are interested in seeing whether and how to connect via BlueJeans, you are welcome to join. The call might be short, so do try to be on time. Depending on how you connect, you might need to install the BlueJeans application, which will take a few minutes. The BlueJeans web site, starting from the url above, has further instructions. There is also a test meeting that you can try at any time. -erik -- Erik Schnetter <schnetter(a)gmail.com> http://www.perimeterinstitute.ca/personal/eschnetter/

working group on Cosmology and Partticles
by helvi witek 25 Jan '18

25 Jan '18

Dear all, after the discussions in the last Einstein Toolkit workshop in Mallorca we have formed a new working group "Cosmology and Particles" led by Eloisa and myself. This group will serve as arena to discuss extensions of numerical relativity towards new physical applications in cosmology (e.g. modelling inflation, structure formation or the interplay between compact objects and dark matter candidates) and high-energy physics, and their implementation in the Einstein Toolkit. You can find a more detailed description of the working group here [1]. <https://docs.einsteintoolkit.org/et-docs/Cosmology_and_Particles> If you are interested in joining the working group please sign up for our mailing list cosmoparticle-wg(a)einsteintoolkit.org Best wishes, Eloisa and Helvi =========================================== Dr. Helvi Witek Royal Society University Research Fellow Theoretical Particle Physics and Cosmology Department of Physics King's College London ===========================================

contributing thorns to the ET
by Miguel Zilhão 24 Jan '18

24 Jan '18

dear all, as we had mentioned to some of you, and as discussed during the last ET telecon, Helvi and i have some Cactus thorns that we'd like to make available to the general ET community. these include: an updated evolution code that we used to evolve Proca fields (https://arxiv.org/abs/1505.00797), the corresponding analysis and initial data thorns, as well as a general metric evolution thorn (based on Uli Sperhake's Lean). we have been cleaning up the codes, and they are now available in following (public) bitbucket repositories: https://bitbucket.org/canuda/lean_public https://bitbucket.org/canuda/proca included are some testsuites as well as some basic README files. we are currently working on a paper that would also serve as documentation. it would be great if these could be considered for inclusion in the 2018-08 release. as instructed, we have created the corresponding ticket: https://trac.einsteintoolkit.org/ticket/2101 many thanks, Miguel & Helvi

questions about compilation
by 林家暉 23 Jan '18

23 Jan '18

Dear sir/madam, I am a master student of physics department ,National Taiwan University, and a beginner of Einstein toolkit. I started with my laptop and everything worked fine. While I turning to super cluster called Edison ,NERSC, some errors came up during compilation(that is, after I type the command:$ ./simfactory/bin/sim build ). 1.The attached file is the screenshot of the error message. It seems the error is caused by compiler. However the same error appeared after shifting the intel compiler to cray compiler or gnu compiler. How can I solve the error? 2.The machine definition file of Edison(edison.ini) is last tested in May,2015, so I am afraid that some information of the machine is outdated . Is this related to the previous problem(1.)? How can I update this file ? Thanks for your help. Best regards, Chia Hui Lin

Hello everyone, I want to ask that if we compute any space-time in EinsteinExact arrangement in initial data form where we can can use this initial data set? what is the physical significance of this thorn arrangement. Your help will be highly appreciated.
