Account for ET Trac
by Erik Schnetter 10 Sep '18

10 Sep '18

I just provided a code review for the Lean code on the ET Trac. I was logged in when I submitted it, but the submission now shows as "anonymous", and I cannot log in again. Could someone check whether I have an account, and/or provide a pointer to resetting my password? -erik -- Erik Schnetter <schnetter(a)gmail.com> http://www.perimeterinstitute.ca/personal/eschnetter/

Error while running
by meraj emami 10 Sep '18

10 Sep '18

Hi all, I have downloaded the toolkit without any problem and also I have done that example about the TOV star completely. But there are some errors during the running of the other examples (ks-mclachlan and qc0-mclachlan). The snapshot from the last lines of these errors is in attachment. I am really appreciated for your help Meraj

compiling with openmpi instead of mpich
by Hamilton, Maria 06 Sep '18

06 Sep '18

Hello, This is a followup question regarding me using ET to do runs on the BigGreen cluster at Marshall University, WV. I am compiling the executable with simfactory/mdb/optionlists/centos.cfg This executable has the setting CPPFLAGS=-DMPICH_IGNORE_CXX_SEEK and a lot of openmp flags commented out. First I left these commented out and just give the mpich directory: MPI_DIR=/opt/ohpc/pub/mpi/mpich-gnu7-ohpc/3.2.1 However, when looking at the config-info, I see that it compiled with mpich flag and openmpi: CPPFLAGS=-DMPICH_IGNORE_CXX_SEEK HDF5_DIR=/opt/ohpc/pub/libs/gnu7/hdf5/1.10.1 Everything seems working, I just I want to make sure this won't cause problems when running the executable. It would be cleaner to compile with openmpi from the beginning. Will you please let me know what flags to silence and what to turn on, in order to compile with openmpi? thanks, Maria _______________________ Dr. Maria C. Present: Steve, Roland, Yosef, Zach, Helvi, Sam, Bhavesh, Peter, Patrick Nelson, Bill Working group updates: * Perforrmance optimization: nothing to report * Education: nothing to report * Cosmoparticle: nothing to report * IllinoisGRMHD: updates are on the wiki page, https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/1ZBc8VQGZm3Gj3fu5TO75TW8swc4VETxnKy1… Gallery examples for next release: * BBH: comparison between current code and gallery data in Zenodo, results are pretty close. Plots are here http://lists.einsteintoolkit.org/pipermail/users/2018-August/006471.html * poisson: Roland updated code, with this he can reproduce the plots, updated the website * BNS: Peter found out that change of using EOS_Omni to compute quantities cause most of the initial differences, after merger there are still differences. So far no input from Frank or Roberto, Peter will contact them directly. Reviews: * WVUDiagnostics: no progress, want testsuites. Push to next release unless we have tests soon. * GiRaFFE: main thorn reviewed, most of GiRaFFE_Food, Zach and Roland to prioritize this request over others * Lean: Erik to review, likely not before the release * Proca: Peter made some progress, will continue to push it this week Documentation: * would like some documentation explaining how to set up checkpoint / restart IllinoisGRMHD robustness: * Zach reduced the maximum allowed speed to have a max. speed less than c_light * finds that robustness is greatly increased if one uses 3rd order Lagrange interpolator for IllinoisGRMHD variables. There is a pull request for such an operator: https://trac.einsteintoolkit.org/ticket/2189 Testsuites: * remove MPG machines: draco, minerva, hydra are MPG machines. Wolfgang said he could maybe run on one of them, if not then we will remove them * Peter will run smic * Marconi: a machine in Italy, Roberto de Pietri, Eloisa had access, if they cannot run, then we should remove them Moving website to github: * may be difficult to move due to multiple repos being linked up * some pages use php and cgi which are not straightfoward to run from github * currently have docker image that makes the server much more self-contained than before, docker image is here: Working group calls: * IllinoisGRMHD on Wednesday 11:00AM US Eastern Time * Performance optimization on Friday 12pm US Central time Yours, Roland -- My email is as private as my paper mail. Present: Chris, Roland, Peter, Steve, Sam, Zach * upcoming ET release in September [RH] ** timeline one wiki: https://docs.einsteintoolkit.org/et-docs/Release_Details [RH] Currently in "slight freeze", will have full freeze by end of week ** status of gallery examples [RH] Peter heard back from Frank and Roberto, with a suggestion for a parameter to try with the patch Frank suggested that refinement boxes in gallery example are rather small, which could lead to extra differences * reviews [RH] ** GiRaFFE Roland has no objections about including GiRaFFE, GiRaFFE_food, ID_converter_GiRaFFE ** WVUThorns_Diagnostics postponed until next year's release add to thorn list immediately after the release, needs to have tests as soon as it can, will be removed from thornlist if not ready by next year's release ** Lean no progress, not included in this release ** Proca Peter interacted with Miguel and Helvi, mostly about docs and tests. Will not be included in the upcoming release. * milestones: from trac [RH] Sam will close https://trac.einsteintoolkit.org/ticket/2172 others were already handled in mailing list * unanswered question on mailing list / open tickets without responses There will be no ET call on September 10th 2018 due to the ET meeting in Lisbon. https://centra.tecnico.ulisboa.pt/network/grit/einsteintoolkit2018/ Yours, Roland -- My email is as private as my paper mail.
