Hi,
There is a thorn AEIThorns/ADMMass which computes the ADM mass of a spacetime. I have recently been asked why this thorn is not included in the ET. According to its README file, the thorn was written by Frank Loeffler and is GPL. It has been contributed to by Frank, Luca and Erik. It has a test suite but no documentation.
Should we aim to include this thorn in the next release? Is the functionality to compute the ADM mass available elsewhere in the ET?

QuasiLocalMeasures integrates the corresponding integrand over an arbitrary sphere, and calls it an "adm_energy". It does not, however, provide an extrapolation to infinity.
What does ADMMass do exactly?

It can compute the surface an/or the volume integral across/inside multiple boxes. One disadvantage is that is still uses ADMMacros, but if you can live with that (or change it), it should work ok. For the volume integral it can also excise the inside of apparent horizons, for obvious reasons.
Frank
I would be happy to have it included, but am obviously biased.

We should include it if there are people using it, or interested in using it. This would probably mean that someone describes the algorithm in more detail, and shows some results of errors and convergence for a few examples (single black hole, neutron star, maybe comparing to what TwoPunctures say for initial conditions).

Hi, I was the one actually asking Ian if there was a reason for ADMMass not being in ET and if there were any alternatives in ET. I use it regularly for my simulations.
Cheers, Bruno

Then let's include it
Quality control requires a bit of documentation before it can be accepted.
