Hi Otacilio, (Please reply to the list so that others can benefit or contribute) It looks like you are trying to follow the tutorial on your own machine rather than Queen Bee. The tutorial will only work on Queen Bee. There is another tutorial in development which can be used with your own machine, but it is currently described as incomplete. Hi. I am trying set the Einstein Toolkit in my machine and when I execute the command /simfactory/bin/sim build occurs one error. Error Using configuration: sim Error: No thornlist supplied. I sent my requestion for registrarion for Queen Been but yeat not receiver any answer. I trying using the command /simfactory/bin/sim set for configure. Sorry for the bad English. Fink
by Ian Hinder 09 Oct '12

Hi, There is an optionlist in SimFactory for people using Fink on Mac OS to install their external libraries and compilers. I was maintaining this, but I have now switched to MacPorts instead of Fink, and this optionlist is without a maintainer. It currently does not work, due to an unknown problem with gcc (Undefined symbols: "___emutls_get_address" at link time). Does anyone use this optionlist? If the answer is yes, would that person be willing to maintain it? If we don't find someone willing to look after it and fix the problem, I propose that the optionlist be deprecated in simfactory (moved to the OUTDATED directory), and that we recommend people to use MacPorts instead. See https://trac.einsteintoolkit.org/ticket/946. -- Ian Hinder http://numrel.aei.mpg.de/people/hinder

meeting minutes

Present were: Ian, Roland, Frank. Tanja, Barry, Josh, Eloisa, Steve, Bruno ET workshop: * both Frank and Eloisa had trouble to book a room with the code from the website. Upon calling the hotel Eloisa learned the correct code (which apparently contains RIT in its name). Josh will phone the hotel to get the correct code and update the wiki. * if you volunteered for a topic please create short wiki page to have a starting point for the discussion/work to be done. Assignments are: - cosmology: Eloisa - Multipatch: Erik & Peter - scheduler, timelevel handling: Steve - MHD: Roland, Bruno, Philipp, Tanja (we'll have to designate a frontperson here). Unless one of use steps forward and becomes frontperson I expect four wiki pages to be created, not none :-). Don't expect someone else will create it please. Misc: * Frank will not be able to host next week. Pablo Laguna agreed to do so. * a new certificate for the trac server has been applied for ET release: * Ian will create a changelog file from the test server logs * we will deprecate the old Tmunu interface in the next release * please begin running test suites on your assigned machines (https://docs.einsteintoolkit.org/et-docs/Release_Details) Yours, Roland

different results of runs on different machines
by Vassilios Mewes 08 Oct '12

Hello all, i have a working installation of the einstein toolkit (compilation finished with all done.) on both my imac at work and on a local cluster at the university of valencia...both are installation of the 2012_05 release... i have written thorns to read in and extrapolate RNSID-like initial data to the cartesian grid of the einstein toolkit.. the code runs on my imac, but gives NaNs and therefore segmentation faults on the cluster.. the imac version was compiled with g++-4.7 and gfortran-4.7 and the version on the cluster with ifort 12.0 (although i think that this shouldn't be an issue??) the thornlist used to compile the two configurations is the one coming with a fresh checkout, and i have just added my two thorns to it.... running on the imac, the data is read in and interpolated without errors or nans popping up... on the cluster, there seems to be a problem with the initial data, and the code crashes on segmentation faults i don't know whats causing this, could the problem be caused by the different compilers on the two machines? best wishes, Vassili

Common Mistakes in OpenMP and How To Avoid Them: A Collection of Best Practices
by Erik Schnetter 07 Oct '12

07 Oct '12

I came across this paper which is a rather interesting read: <http://pc51.plm.eecs.uni-kassel.de/plm/fileadmin/pm/courses/pvI07/SL06.pdf>. It describes (as the title suggests) common mistakes in OpenMP programs, and gives some generic techniques to avoid them. The paper is meant to be read by teachers and casual OpenMP programmers. -erik -- Erik Schnetter <schnetter(a)cct.lsu.edu> http://www.perimeterinstitute.ca/personal/eschnetter/

Re: [Users] ADMMass thorn gives a weird numbers with mesh refinement.

As far as I understand ADMMass uses metric and lapse thought ADMMacros and it calculates derivatives of the metric inside. All those GF looks fine. The problem appears when I use mesh refinement.
