parameter output of gallery example
by 林家暉 13 Feb '19

13 Feb '19

Hello, I have a problem about the gallery example of binary neutron star (https://einsteintoolkit.org/gallery/bns/index.html). Is it possible to evolve and output some parameters like entropy , temperature and electron fraction ? Is so , how should I modify the parameter file (NsNsToHMNS.par) ? Thank you. Best regards, Chia-Hui

Present: Roland, Peter, Sam, Steve, Antoni, Zach SSL certificates for svn.cactuscode.org: * should be fixed later today ET release planning: * BNS galler example ** no update yet * WVU_Analysis status ** in repo and compiling ** test suite still missing * Proca / Lean status ** Peter made progress reviewing responses to original review ** tests have been added, tests use Lean, Peter sees failures using Lean on his laptop ** should finish 2nd round of review today or tomorrow Release relevant tickets: ** https://bitbucket.org/einsteintoolkit/tickets/issues/2219/fix-sqrt-for-avx5… should be taken care of Bitbucket transition: * does no longer sent emails to ET mailing list * table of tickets (https://bitbucket.org/einsteintoolkit/tickets/issues) gives only very little room to ticket title, would be nice to be able to reserve more space. Bitbucket allows some customization https://developer.atlassian.com/blog/2016/02/6-secret-bitbucket-features/#c… but no one on the call has experience how to do so. Google also finds https://bitbucket.org/site/master/issues/7139/customize-able-column-headers… and https://bitbucket.org/site/master/issues/11883/issues-list-is-unreadable-if… . github transition: * all branches have been moved to github Zach reported change in behaviour when adding / removing thorns from thornlist: * https://bitbucket.org/einsteintoolkit/tickets/issues/2224 * Steve will look into it since it seems piraha related US ET workshop at RIT: * announced on hyperspace * add link to ET website Yours, Roland -- My email is as private as my paper mail. Queen Bee Account Request
by Rodriguez, Shanshan 05 Feb '19

05 Feb '19

Good morning, As I was following the new user Tutorial and trying to request access following this link: https://www.einsteintoolkit.nationaldataservice.org it doesn’t seem to be able to connect with the server. Would you please advise me if there is another way to request a queen bee account? Best wishes, Shanshan —————————————————————— Shanshan Rodriguez Assistant Professor of Physics 1034 Noyce Science Center Department of Physics Grinnell College Grinnell, IA 50112 Email: rodriguezs(a)grinnell.edu<mailto:rodriguezs@grinnell.edu>

move of ET ticket system to bitbucket
by Roland Haas 04 Feb '19

04 Feb '19

Hello all, we (the ET) are testing out moving the ET tickets to bitbucket: https://bitbucket.org/riksanyal/trac_bb/issues Please feel free to have a look and report any issues that you find to either Debopam Sanyal (who does the work) dsanyal2(a)illinois.edu or me (Roland Haas). Current plans are to go ahead with the conversion shortly after February 1st. Yours, Roland -- My email is as private as my paper mail. I therefore support encrypting and signing email messages. CarpetRegrid2

My code (par file attached) is dying in regrid.cc with this error message: terminate called after throwing an instance of 'std::out_of_range' what(): vector::_M_range_check: __n (which is 0) >= this->size() (which is 0) The relevant code is below. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. Any ideas? Thanks. } else { // The level did not actually change: re-use the old domain // decomposition for (int m = 0; m < maps; ++ m) { superregsss.at(m).at(rl).swap(old_superregsss.at(m).at(rl)); int const ml = 0; regsss.at(m).at(rl).swap(old_regssss.at(m).at(ml).at(rl)); // <-- dying here } } // if level did change } // for rl --Steve

GR22 / Amaldi13: abstract submission and registration deadlines
by Toni Font 30 Jan '19

30 Jan '19

Dear colleagues, We are now approaching the deadline for Abstract submission (March 1) and early registration (April 12) in the GR22/Amaldi13 meeting in Valencia, July 7-12 2019. As you know, in 2019 we will be celebrating the centenary of Eddington's expedition, the direct detection of gravitational waves, and a number of extraordinary advances in the field of gravitation and relativity. I am writing to the ET users list to stimulate you and your colleagues, collaborators and students to register asap at the conference’s website: http://www.gr22amaldi13.com Updates can be followed via Twitter (@GR22AMALDI13) and Facebook (GR22-Amaldi13). There’s plenty of interesting parallel sessions to choose from to submit your abstract. In particular, there is a parallel session on numerical relativity (session B2, chaired by Carlos Palenzuela) which should be very well suited for most ET users. All the best, Toni Font GR22/Amaldi13 LOC Chair

sim error on macOS
by Hamilton, Maria 29 Jan '19

29 Jan '19

Hello, I compiled ET on Mojave, and I have this error when trying to run a test: ./simfactory/bin/sim create-run static_tov --parfile=par/static_tov_small_short.par Parameter file: /Users/babiuc/Cactus/par/static_tov_small_short.par Error: configuration 'sim', which has path '/Users/babiuc/Cactus/configs/sim' does not exist or is not readable Aborting Simfactory. It works just fine with the command: ./cactus_sim static_tov_small_short.par Maria _______________________ Dr. Maria C. Help with hyperslabbing error message
by Shoup, Anthony 26 Jan '19

26 Jan '19

Hi All, I am conducting initial testing of using the Einstein Toolkit on my cluster. I have been able to complete successful runs of the example simulation: BBHMedRes.par with multiple mpi processes per node with 1 thread per process. Now I am exploring using multiple threads per process. My first attempt was 1 process per node and 2 threads per process. However, simulation aborted after about the third regrid with the error: WARNING level 0 from host node1 process 0 while executing schedule bin BoundaryConditions, routine RotatingSymmetry180::Rot180_ApplyBC in thorn RotatingSymmetry180, file /home/Cactus/Cactus/configs/sim/build/RotatingSymmetry180/rotatingsymmetry180.c:460: -> TAT/Slab can only be used if there is a single local component per MPI process cactus_sim: /home/Cactus/Cactus/configs/sim/build/Carpet/helpers.cc:275: int Carpet::Abort(const cGH*, int): Assertion `0' failed. Is there a parameter in my .par file I need to change? I have attached my par file to this email. Any help anyone can give would be greatly appreciated. Tony...
