how to review a contribution guideline
by Roland Haas 10 Aug '22

10 Aug '22

Hello all, Since I am serving as release manager for the upcoming release and could not find this information collated in a single location I started to draft a reviewer's guide for contributions (slightly different from the how to review a patch guide https://docs.einsteintoolkit.org/et-docs/How_to_Review_a_Patch that already existed): https://docs.einsteintoolkit.org/et-docs/How_to_Review_a_new_component Comments and contributions (you may have to send email first to have an account on the wiki created) would be very welcome. Large junk radiation
by Ferguson, Deborah 10 Aug '22

10 Aug '22

Hi, We had been using our own version of TwoPunctures, and I’ve recently switched to the ETK version since it doesn’t require solving for the masses separately. Junk radiation has always been present, but I’m finding that some of my recent simulations have particularly loud junk radiation, which also makes it harder avoid reflection of. So I’m guessing I’m not fully understanding the TwoPunctures parameters. I’ve attached a parfile and a psi4 plot for a simulation I’ve started that’s having this large junk radiation, and was hoping someone could point out any mistakes I may have in the TwoPunctures parameters. Thanks! Deborah -------------------------------------- Deborah Ferguson Post Doc University of Texas at Austin

Present: Roland, Beyan, Peter, Yosef, Bruno, Leo, Gabriele, Miguel, Keith, Steve Updates on ET CSSI working workshop * Roland and Leo provided updates * had some discussion on details of radiative boundary condition issue when used with AMReX modules proposed for inclusion * quick updates, Roland mentioned still looking for a co-reviewer for FLRW, having two candidates right now gallery examples: * Peter working on TOV example * Steve not present functionality to retire: * CoordGauge was mentioned as a candidate for retirement * ADMMacros and ADMCoupling are also mentioned as candidates * Roland to check list of announced retirements on wiki ET EU meeting * Steve and Bruno discussed how to organize tutorial * Gabriele suggested introducing kuibit as well review guidelines for reviewers * Gabrielle suggested adding "best practises" requirements ** READ / WRITE would be good and could be required ** how to write a loop could be suggested * provide place for users to indicate which parts of the toolkit are confusing * provide "best practises" example thorn in CactusWave thorns SPECv8 contribution * have received feedback by organizers, will need to decide on author list. Steve and Roland to discuss. Chair next week: Beyhan Minutes next week: Steve Yours, Roland -- My email is as private as my paper mail. I therefore support encrypting and signing email messages. Present: Peter, Beyhan, Bruno, Helvi, Keith, Zach, local people from the workshop (Leo, Roland, Liwei, Federico, Alexandru, Steve, Johnny, Cheng-Hsin) Chair: Leo Minutes: Johnny - modules suggested for inclusion for next release [RH] - Canuda scalar and complex fields ticket <https://bitbucket.org/einsteintoolkit/tickets/issues/2485/include-complex-a…> (Miguel Zilhao): Currently adapted two punctures, scalar field, evolution. Will need review, possibly someone who planned to use Canuda [RH]. Compile without error in a few weeks, and will need to be done by Sep 15. ScalarBase, ScalarInit, ScalarEvolve will all be needed to include in ETK, will need documentation for the whole arrangement, refer the variables to the equations in the papers. - FLRW solver ticket <https://bitbucket.org/einsteintoolkit/tickets/issues/2549/inlcude-flrwsolve…> (Hayley Macpherson): Helvi was originally suggested but will be busy. Some students planning to use the code were expressing interests. *Zach mentioned he can review the code. - SelfForce-1D ticket <https://bitbucket.org/einsteintoolkit/tickets/issues/2602/include-regge-whe…> (Samuel Cupp): - NRPyEllipticET ticket <https://bitbucket.org/einsteintoolkit/tickets/issues/2616/add-nrpyelliptice…> (Leo Werneck, Thiago Assumpcao, Zach Etienne): Students in Helvi’s group will be reviewers. - Elliptica ticket <https://bitbucket.org/einsteintoolkit/tickets/issues/2619/include-ellipitca…> (Alireza Rashti): Beyhan volunteered to review, contact Alireza directly. Should ask if reader exists. - timeline <https://docs.einsteintoolkit.org/et-docs/Release_Details> for upcoming release [RH] - Proposed thorn in the master branch, all thorns and selfForce-1D [PD]. In two weeks, start testing codes on different clusters. Release in November. - missing updates for gallery examples [RH] - BBH <https://www.einsteintoolkit.org/gallery/bbh/index.html> [SB]: will be updated on the website - TOV <https://www.einsteintoolkit.org/gallery/ns/index.html> [PD]: the run is done, will need to update webpage - Tickets: - ticket #2624 <https://bitbucket.org/einsteintoolkit/tickets/issues/2624/not-possible-to-r…>: Run with extra environment variables . - ticket #2620 <https://bitbucket.org/einsteintoolkit/tickets/issues/2620/wvuthorns-baikal-…>: latest commit of Baikal fixes. Different orders are compiled at different files instead one file [ZE], would need review or more tests*. *Helvi can review Baikal, Zach can review FLRW - For the working workshop next year: If the workshop becomes only one week, maybe a one-week virtual workshop to get people to set up the environment and compile the code first [RH]. CarpetX will need review in the future (next year) [HV], maybe a review workshop [SB] - ET meeting in Dublin <https://sites.google.com/view/eetm2022> in a month Next call: Chair: Peter Minutes: Steve
