Do you have an English translation by any chance? Thanks, Bruno. Hello Frank, > Log: > misplaced a paper by ... a century Would you mind checking the title, please? It uses both "Ueber" and "Auflösung". Same for the other one with Nåherung for the other paper. Also the new entries use utf-8 which the old ones don't eg your name is L{\"o}ffler in the ET paper. Re my own commit with the cropping script: it crops pdf files to remove white border. All automated. Isn't it a beauty to read? :-) Yours, Roland

Hi Frank, Thank you for your prompt reply. I did check again that the directory exists, and sure enough it's there :-) I have attached the defs.local.ini file here. The output of 'ls -la ./scratch/ettest50/simulations' was total 8 drwxrwxrwx 2 ettest50 lsuusers 4096 Mar 27 18:41 . drwxrwxrwx 3 ettest50 lsuusers 4096 Mar 27 21:25 .. Cheers, Chaitanya. Error with ETK Tutorial for New Users
by Chaitanya Shettigara 04 Apr '13

04 Apr '13

Hi Users, I am having trouble with the tutorial for new users found here https://docs.einsteintoolkit.org/et-docs/Tutorial_for_New_Users I cannot run a simulation using ./simfactory/bin/sim submit static_tov --parfile=par/static_tov.par --procs=32 --walltime=8:0:0 as per the tutorial. I get the following error: Parameter file: /home/ettest50/Cactus/par/static_tov.par Error: could not access simulation base directory /scratch/ettest50/simulations for reading and writing Aborting Simfactory. I notice that someone had the same problem back in 2011, and I created the directory by hand which seemed to be a solution that worked for him, but I keep getting the same error. I also gave it completely open access permissions in case that was the problem. Can anyone advise me on how to solve this problem? Kind regards, Chaitanya Shettigara

active thorns and test suites?
by Kelly, Bernard J. (GSFC-660.0)[UNIVERSITY OF MARYLAND BALTIMORE COUNTY] 03 Apr '13

Hi all. Another in my history of silly questions ... I'm trying to run a test suite in the Einstein Toolkit (2012_11) -- specifically, TwoPunctures/test/bhns_eval.par . I've compiled all the necessary thorns in my ThornList, and can run the suite parameter file fine. *However*, if I try > make whizzbang-testsuite ... TwoPunctures/test/bhns_eval.par does *not* appear in my list of runnable suites. Is there a simple-for-me-to-understand reason for this? Hey Bruno, If you want m to make a go at any of the todos for the advected loop let me know. I was looking over the description of why we include v_z in the test, and it seems like it's more a check than anything else, I haven't convinced myself that we really have any advective terms present that make use of it. BTW, your current affiliations in the paper are RIT then AEI...do you want that reversed to make Luciano happier? TwoPunctures fast spectral interpolation routine
by Vasileios Paschalidis 03 Apr '13

03 Apr '13

Dear ET folks, We have made our fast spectral interpolation routine for the TwoPunctures code publicly available. Using this routine you can speed up the initial data generation process of the TwoPunctures code by a factor of ~100, thereby allowing the use of very high spectral resolutions (we have used 50x70^2 or 60x80^2 basis functions in our calculations). As the TwoPunctures code is used outside the ET community as well, we have posted a note announcing the new routine on the arXiv (arXiv:1304.0457<http://arxiv.org/abs/1304.0457> ). Our arXiv note contains a brief description of the routine, a demonstration of its high performance and accuracy, as well as a set of detailed instructions for installing this routine in the standalone TwoPunctures code as well as the ET thorn. To download a file containing our routines implementing the fast interpolation, visit the following website: http://webusers.physics.illinois.edu/~vpaschal/TwoPuncturesET/ We hope that this new routine will be useful to the ET community. Best regards, Vasileios Paschalidis Zachariah Etienne Roman Gold Stuart Shapiro

Cactus documentation in Kranc-generated thorns?
by Kelly, Bernard J. (GSFC-660.0)[UNIVERSITY OF MARYLAND BALTIMORE COUNTY] 02 Apr '13

Hi. I recently went through the main McLachlan_BSSN.m Kranc/Mathematica script, noting the exact form of the BSSNOK evolution equations, as well as their CCZ4 and GSFC variants. It occurred to me that these would be useful things to have in a human-readable format, as part of the ML_BSSN (say) thorn documentation. But of course, there *is* not ML_BSSN/doc directory by default. Can McLachlan.m incorporate external documentation? Perhaps something stored in the "prototype" subdirectory could be added to the newly generated thorn? Bernard
