5-28-2018 Present: Anton Ramos, Peter Diener, Bhavesh, Zach, Eric West, Sam Cupp, Yosef Zach Etienne: Did the only working group update. (1) Patched for piecewise-polytropic. (2) Illinois group is migrating from private GRMHD to the public one. (3) Georgia Tech is using the code, but it crashes with McLachlin. (4) Zach feels it is difficult to understand what the McLachlin parameters do and how to set them. Peter volunteered to write some documentation. (5) Cal Pamona group is using Cactus but it's very slow. Suggested making sure SystemTopology and hwloc are present. Bhavesh, travel funds are still available. Zach suggests a discussion at the workshop in June about how other groups that are non-cartesian. NRPY is coming along. Added new Giraffe thorns to master. They are compiling. Zach will add tests.

Dear sir/madam How are you doing? I'm Sado a PhD student at Addis Ababa University, Ethiopia I'm working on compact binary merger and massive star core collapse that result in hyperaccreting Kerr hole surrounded accretion disk. I'm simulating this magnetorotational collapse using Einstein Toolkit in full general relativity. Due to my machine failure I'm reinstalling Toolkit, but I faced the following error. curl: (35) error:140770FC:SSL routines:SSL23_GET_SERVER_HELLO:unknown protocol Please he me resolve *With Best Regards!!!* *-------------------------------------------------------------------* *Feyiso Sado (PhD Student)* *Addis Ababa University, Department of Physics* *Cell Phone: +251910626090 <%2B251911089463>* *E-mail: bsfeyiso(a)gmail.com <bsfeyiso(a)gmail.com>* *P.O.Box: 1176* *Ethiopia*

Robin Boundary Conditions
by Jens Mahlmann 23 May '18

23 May '18

Dear all, I am currently experimenting with the setup of Robin boundary conditions (I need a decay to the power of 3 in my physical field variables). However, I am finding myself a bit troubled with the correct understanding and implementation of the corresponding table handles. Does anybody have a minimal example for the implementation of Robin boundary conditions with a non default decay power? Or a hint where I could improve my understanding of the implementation? Thank you very much and my best from Valencia Jens

restart simulation with checkpoints
by 林家暉 23 May '18

23 May '18

Dear who it may concern, I have tried the binary neutron star simulation (http://einsteintoolkit.org/gallery/bns/index.html), and want to finish the simulation by parts .That is , I would like to recover the simulation from checkpoints. However I fail to continue my simulation. There are two cases that I met: 1. I have the cctk_final_time=2500 and the simulation terminate at time=2500 but the merge has not yet occur which means I need more time ,perhaps time=8000. So I want to continue my simulation from time=2500. But after I changed to cctk_final_time=8000 in parameter file , the simulation still stops at time=2500, which means it stops just after it begins. How can I finish the complete simulation? 2. I have test the same simulation as above but with wall_time=10 min. I have checkpoint_every=150 ,and checkpoint_on_terminate= "yes" in the parameter file. However after it finishes with the final iteration=250, the checkpoint file is not produced. Only the initial one checkpoint.chkpt.it_0.file_0.h5 exists. How can I produce a checkpoint which enable me to restart simulation? Thank you. Best regards, Chia-Hui

Hi, At the moment, https://trac.einsteintoolkit.org seems to be broken. It returns a redirect to itself, leaving you in an endless loop: <!DOCTYPE html> <html> <head> <meta http-equiv="refresh" content="0; url=https://trac.einsteintoolkit.org"> </head> <body> <p>The page has moved to: <a href="https://trac.einsteintoolkit.org">this page</a></p> </body> </html> Reporting this via email for obvious reasons... ET Workshop 2018: Extended deadline for travel support
by Khamesra, Bhavesh 20 May '18

20 May '18

Hi everyone, We are extending the deadline for travel and registration support applications for the next Einstein Toolkit workshop to June 1st. As a reminder, the workshop will be hosted at Georgia Tech from June 18-20th. The last date of registration and abstract submission is also June 1st . You can find more details about the workshop at this link - http://et-workshop18.physics.gatech.edu/ [http://et-workshop18.physics.gatech.edu/wp-content/uploads/2018/02/logo-e15…]<http://et-workshop18.physics.gatech.edu/> ETK Workshop – Einstein toolkit workshop 2018<http://et-workshop18.physics.gatech.edu/> et-workshop18.physics.gatech.edu >From past several years, ET workshops have served as a platform to build stronger collaborations and advancement of Einstein Toolkit. We hope to continue this legacy at this year’s workshop at Georgia Tech. Thanks, Bhavesh ............................. Error compiling ET
by Antoni Ramos Buades 19 May '18

19 May '18

Hi, my name is Antoni Ramos, I am student at UIB (Spain), I am trying to compile the ET in a small cluster that we have at the university. As a .cfg file I took the shelob-openmpi-gcc.cfg and I made some small changes to adapt it to our machine. So far, I got several error messages which where quite informative about what I was doing wrong. However, now I am receiving an error message I do not know what it does refer to. I would like to ask you if someone could tell me what this message mean and what could generate it. ...( skipping the previous messages) CST finished. Checking status of thorn CoordBase Checking status of thorn Boundary Checking status of thorn ADMCoupling Checking status of thorn SummationByParts make[2]: *** [make.checked] Error 2 make[1]: *** [/home/arb429/ET2017_toni/configs/sim/lib/libthorn_CoordBase.a] Error 2 make[1]: *** Se espera a que terminen otras tareas.... make[2]: *** [make.checked] Error 2 make[1]: *** [/home/arb429/ET2017_toni/configs/sim/lib/libthorn_Boundary.a] Error 2 make[2]: *** [cctk_Bindings/make.checked] Error 2 make[2]: *** Se espera a que terminen otras tareas.... make[2]: *** [cctk_Bindings/make.checked] Error 2 make[1]: *** [/home/arb429/ET2017_toni/configs/sim/lib/libthorn_ADMCoupling.a] Error 2 make[2]: *** [make.checked] Error 2 make[1]: *** [/home/arb429/ET2017_toni/configs/sim/lib/libthorn_SummationByParts.a] Error 2 make: *** [sim] Error 2 Probably something is wrong with the .cfg file but I do not know what to change exactly. When I look at the configs/sim/config-data/config.log I am also not able to find out what is precisely wrong. I attach the .cfg file and the config.log to this mail. Best regards and thanks, Toni.
