Hi Steve, If I push to the ET website repo, does it automatically get reflected on the web? Or do I need to click the button on http://einsteintoolkit.org/update.php <http://einsteintoolkit.org/update.php> ? What else does that button do? -- Ian Hinder http://members.aei.mpg.de/ianhin

Problem with building the Einstein Toolkit
by Sumedha Biswas 19 Apr '18

19 Apr '18

Hello, I've been following the download instructions as given on this page - https://nbviewer.jupyter.org/github/nds-org/jupyter-et/blob/master/CactusTu… to install the Einstein Toolkit on fedora. However, when I attempt running the command to build the toolkit - ./simfactory/bin/sim build --mdbkey make 'make -j2' --thornlist ../einsteintoolkit.th | cat I get the following compilation error: ../../libtool: line 6000: cd: NO_BUILD/lib: No such file or directory libtool: link: cannot determine absolute directory name of `NO_BUILD/lib' make[6]: *** [Makefile:1584: libasm.la] Error 1 make[5]: *** [Makefile:2153: all-recursive] Error 1 make[4]: *** [Makefile:1702: all-recursive] Error 1 Died at /root/Cactus/arrangements/ExternalLibraries/MPI/src/build.pl line 74. make[3]: *** [/root/Cactus/arrangements/ExternalLibraries/MPI/src/make.code.deps:9: /root/Cactus/configs/sim/scratch/done/MPI] Error 17 make[2]: *** [/root/Cactus/lib/make/make.thornlib:113: make.checked] Error 2 make[1]: *** [/root/Cactus/lib/make/make.configuration:181: /root/Cactus/configs/sim/lib/libthorn_MPI.a] Error 2 make: *** [Makefile:260: sim] Error 2 How do I fix this and successfully install and run the Einstein Toolkit? Thanks, Sumedha Biswas

thorn NSTracker not found while
by 林家暉 18 Apr '18

18 Apr '18

Dear whom it may concern, I tried to run a binary neutron star merge simulation with Einsteintoolkit on the workbench . And I mainly followed the tutorial (CactusTutorial.ipynb<https://siygc9-jupyteret-8888.einsteintoolkit.nationaldataservice.org/noteb…>) and only changed the version of Einsteintoolkit from ET_2017_06 to ET_2018_02 in order to get the thorn NSTracker which is mentioned in https://einsteintoolkit.org/gallery/bns/index.html. However after I executed the code with the command: ./simfactory/bin/sim create-run nsns_test --parfile=par/nsnstohmns.par --procs=5 --num-threads=1 --ppn-used=5 --walltime=0:5:0 I got an error as the attached file that thorn NSTracker can not be found. What step did I make mistake and how can I solve it ? Best regards, Chia-Hui [cid:5fe1a397-47ad-4dfe-8360-37f534285d2d]

TODO: Peter to contact Frank missing material on ET website: * http://einsteintoolkit.org/mp.html is missing ID files and most links are broken * ID files no longer present on server at Caltech * Patrick Cheong tried to reproduce the run with current RNSID in ET but failed. Possibly bug in parfile or bug in GRHydro or difference between Whisky_RNSID and RNSID in ET right now. TODO: Roland to ping authors of paper, try to reproduce files with Whisky_RNSID * material is hard to find. Suggest to add them to the gallery. Gallery: * suggest to ask authors of ET using papers for submissions to the gallery ET chat: * there is a ET slack which we tried but which seems to have not gotten anywhere * similar story for IRC: https://webchat.oftc.net/?channels=cactus&uio=OT10cnVlde * Zach suggests giving https://gitter.im a try which is eg used by sympy: https://gitter.im/sympy/sympy ET meeting next week: Only if there is interest since it overlaps with the APS meeting. ML_ADMQuantities question
by Wolfgang Kastaun 06 Apr '18

06 Apr '18

Hi, I just started using the ML_ADMQuantities thorn (because I wanted the ADM integrants, not just the integrals), and stumbled on two issues: 1. It seems this thorn only works with ML_BSSN, is there a version for ML_CCZ4 somewhere? 2. Madm and Jadm3 are declared as tensorweight=0 in the interface.ccl, but it seems to me that they already include the square root of the 3-metric determinant (at least I got the correct ADM mass by just using the standard average reduction operator on them for some test). Should that be tensorweight=1 instead? Cheers, Wolfgang.
