Bill Anderson (Eastern New Mexico), Peter Diener, Yosef Zlochower, Steven R. Brandt, Bhavesh, Ian Hinder, Bill Gabella Bill Anderson called, worked with Roland to get the ET running on Darwin. Peter - Gallery examples still not working. Bhavesh - The schedule for the workshop is now up. People can still register. Miguel - Trying to get a more definite agenda for the meeting in September. Need more abstract submissions. Can they run JupyterHub on the cluster? Jenkins update isn't working because of some issue with the lsu repository. Tutorial machine running on Jetstream burned through allocation on XSEDE. Yosef has had trouble running the latest Visit with Carpet with IOHDF5. Can only load a few data sets. No call next week. I will be away 6/25 and will not be able to run the call.

timeouts accessing svn.cactuscode.org using svn

Hello all, I just tried to check out the Einstein Toolkit and received: Could not checkout module ExternalLibraries/BLAS svn: E170013: Unable to connect to a repository at URL 'https://svn.cactuscode.org/projects/ExternalLibraries/BLAS/branches/ET_2018…' svn: E000110: Error running context: Connection timed out Could not checkout module ExternalLibraries/PAPI svn: E170013: Unable to connect to a repository at URL 'https://svn.cactuscode.org/projects/ExternalLibraries/PAPI/branches/ET_2018…' svn: E000110: Error running context: Connection timed out Could not checkout module ExternalLibraries/GSL svn: E170013: Unable to connect to a repository at URL 'https://svn.cactuscode.org/projects/ExternalLibraries/GSL/branches/ET_2018_…' svn: E000110: Error running context: Connection timed out There seem to be (possible unrelated) issues with other svn repositories at LSU right now, so this may not be restricted to just those three repositories. Hi folks, When you get a chance, please allow for new version of Darwin 17.5.0. SimFactory error message said that the C compiler could not produce executables. Thanks, Bill William L. problem in generating 3d output
by 林家暉 06 Jun '18

06 Jun '18

Dear whom it may concern, I have done a simulation of binary neutron star which an example code in the gallery. In the default parameter file , only 2D output is generated. I want to produce 3D output therefore I may have to change CarpetIOHDF5::out2D_xy into another parameter . What variable can I set to get 3D HDF5 output? Something like CarpetIOHDF5::out3D_z ? Thank you. Best regards, Chia-Hui

Dear whom it may concern, I have done a simulation of binary neutron star which an example code in the gallery. In the default parameter file , only 2D output is generated. I want to produce 3D output, but I did not find a solution after reading the document of Thorn guide about IOHDF5 and CarpetIOHDF5 . What parameter can I set to get 3D HDF5 output? Thank you. Attending: Bhavesh, Eric West, Peter Diener, Gabrielle Bhavesh: Registrations are still considering registrations, but not applications for travel funds. Something might still be arranged. merge hdf5 data
by 林家暉 03 Jun '18

03 Jun '18

Dear whom it may concern, I have 3 hdf5 data ,each of them belong to output0000,output0001 and output0002 with the same simulation setting. I ma trying to combine these three .h5 files but have no idea about it for 2 reasons. First, there are overlap time steps between output0000&output0001 and output0001&output0002.Second, they are in binary code so I cannot read them and copy the nonoverlapping parts into a new file. So generally , how can we combine output data of output000* together? Thank you. Best regards, Chia-Hui

Reduction operations during runtime
by Jens Mahlmann 01 Jun '18

01 Jun '18

Dear all, I am currently trying to use the results of a global reduction operation (average) during runtime for the derivation of source terms. Especially, I run * if (CCTK_Reduce(cctkGH, -1, CCTK_ReductionHandle("average"), 1, CCTK_VARIABLE_REAL, magvaravg, 1, CCTK_VarIndex("FFEvolve::magvar"))) CCTK_WARN(0, "Error while reducing FFEvolve::magvaravg");* with OPTION:GLOBAL prior to my source term derivation (especially not in the Analysis schedule block). However, this basically gives me NaNs during runtime. Still, when I produce output of the respective quantities, everything works fine - it seems that only the quantity storing the average value is not available for all processes during runtime. Maybe you have a hint for me - I am sure I am missing something basic. Thank you very much for your input and my best from Valencia Jens
